After extensive research some areas what I found about SEO aspect, which we normally believe firmly, like to share:
1. Keywords are NOT USED. Not by Google, Bing, Yahoo. This has been true since 2002, with the last minor engines not using them in 2009. There are actual tests by SEO experts demonstrating having keywords does not affect SEO, and engineers from google, bing stated they have not used them in ANY way for years. Yahoo has stated they do not use them at all but does index them based on testing, if it’s a unique word not used ANYWHERE else on the internet such as “afhsdjkhfkds” it will work, but it does not help for keywords where there is competition and you can get the same results by putting that keyword in your h1 tag, which makes it of no use.
2. Description is NOT USED for SEO, it is used to show customers in the search results, again not a place to pack keywords. It is for conversion only, or a sales pitch. Having keywords that match what the customer searched for is good since they are bold. This is not an area for SEO guy to tell but the marketing guys should be looking at to try to help things after the customer finds us.
3. Title is visible to the customer, if the page is dedicated to frogs, it HAS to be “Web Development Company“, nothing in it should not be related to the page because it is crucial to conversion to have it say the same thing as the customer searched for. It does have bearing but it will at the same time make people not click on it. Since this is visible to the customer above the description it is key to conversion – it cannot read like it’s packed with SEO keywords and it HAS to be done for the reader first and Search Engine Marketing issues are secondary ( you can get the same results with the h1 and h2 tags ). If this affects conversion negatively it should not be done, and anything done to it should be from the sales perspective first and foremost.
Please research this on Google making sure to look at the dates any article is written, this is quite clearly how it is now, descriptions and keywords was really stopped 8 years ago when it was mostly useless for search engine optimisation, it has been useless on google since 1998, at this point it’s completely useless with NO search engines using them.
